Today is exciting because we just completed a full week on our road to lose 250lbs!
So this post is where we update you about how we’ve been eating, exercising, and sticking to our plan throughout the week. It’s where we demonstrate if we’ve actually been disciplined or if we were simply all talk
Food: How’d We Do?
Khaleef: This week was difficult for me because I realized how often I make foolish decisions when it comes to food. There were so many times over the last week where I wanted to buy something to eat either at lunch or on the way home. Even when I wasn’t physically hungry. It took so much mental energy for me to focus on my goal and to not give in.
Fortunately, we had food at home and I knew that if I could just make it to the house, I would be “safe”. Also, since we are doing this as a team, I didn’t want to let my wife down by going against what we planned.
It also helped that we spent every dime (ok, not “every”, but we only left about $4) out of our checking account to buy groceries. So even though we had room in our budget for eating out, it wasn’t in our bank account, and there is no way that I want to go further into debt for pizza or Moe’s!
Also, I kept myself at or under 1,800 calories every day last week except for 2 (I hit 2,000 one day and about 2,300 on another – both below what my body burns in a day).
Sherrian: This week was pretty good overall. I was only tempted to eat out a couple times. Once, when I just didn’t want anything I cooked. And another time was right after a long day at a funeral. That wasn’t really about the food, though, I just like when Khaleef and I can go somewhere and sit and talk. In both cases, it didn’t happen.
I adjusted my calories using a calculator, and so it is now at 1686. Considering that, I didn’t go over my calories this week (the pomegranates I had Sunday and Monday night didn’t take me over this number – only over 1500 – teehee). I was also doing well with getting in water until not feeling well towards the end of the week. I will work on that.
Exercise: How’d We Do?
Khaleef: I wanted to walk at least 6,500 steps for at least 5 days last week. I surpassed that goal for 4 days, and came up 1,100 steps short on the 5th. I am disappointed that I didn’t hit my goal, but I’m happen that I got in a few good walks last week.
Sherrian: I had a pretty awful week, health-wise, so I couldn’t exercise like I wanted. I was pretty much stuck in bed towards the end of the week and mad about it.
You Want To See Our Faces, Don’t You?

Sherrian: I’m down 2.2 lbs this week! I am happy with the loss although I was hoping for more. I am trying not to compare myself to Khaleef because I know he will have bigger losses than me. Sigh. I am hoping exercise will bring larger numbers, though.
Khaleef here: Last week I weighed 316.8, this week I came in at 310.8. So that means I lost 6lbs after the first week, and I’m down 12.8lbs from my high of 323.6 – (remember that this is going to be the starting weigh that I reference after the first few weeks), I don’t want to have to keep several “starting” numbers in my head, so I want to reflect how far I’ve come from my highest weight (which was last month, I think).
I weighed myself on Thursday or Friday and the scale read 314.4. I was a little upset about that since I was in such a large caloric deficit and at the beginning of a new weight loss battle. I’m not sure what made the scale jump down by almost 4lbs in a few days, but I do trust that it represents my true weight and not some odd anomaly.
Anyway, my body hasn’t seen any changes, so it’s just a number for now.
You Want To Lose What?
You read that title correctly. We want to lose 250lbs combined. Once we are both comfortable with sharing our weight, then we will talk about how that goal breaks down between the two of us.
So now this blog has turned into the story of us losing 250lbs while paying off over $100k of debt at the same time!
Next Week’s Focus:
Sherrian: My goals are the same as last week since I couldn’t accomplish them perfectly. 100 oz of water daily and at least one weight lifting session.
Fat Guy (Khaleef is boring): I still want to get at least 6,500 steps in at least 5 days. I originally wanted 7,500, but because of my back injury I am not able to walk too far yet. I would also like to get in at least one cardio session so I can figure out what kind of exercises I can do that won’t cause my back to seize up.
