Wow! One month down! I can’t believe November went by so fast. Even though this post is coming out on Monday, it’s based on our progress as of last week (we were just too busy to publish it)
I can tell you already that it didn’t go as well as we hoped, but we are really happy that things are moving in the right direction. This week we had to deal with the deliciousness of Thanksgiving meals and treats, plus Khaleef’s birthday gave us two decadent birthday cakes to contend with! Yes – we ate desserts. We also had yummy things like mac and cheese, candied yams… well, you get the point.
The question is, did we do that all in moderation? Did we sabotage ourselves? Let’s look at the numbers and see…
Food: How’d We Do?
Khaleef: I actually think we did pretty well, even with Thanksgiving and my birthday happening on the same day! Here was my plate from the thanksgiving meal at my brother’s house, even though my wife called it a #struggleplate :
That was my first time having salmon on Thanksgiving, but I definitely enjoyed the healthy element. Yes, we had all of the things that you would expect with Thanksgiving, as well as birthday cake, but it was all in moderation and I am extremely happy with how things went.
Sherrian: Alright, as said above, Thanksgiving was… Thanksgiving. And then there were leftovers. The good thing is, I kept within my calories based on my approximations. I did eat too much cake. Also, for the past couple weeks those Danish Butter cookies that have come out at Christmas time have been my undoing! UGH! I am feeling all the guilt, believe me. I am backing away from the cookies right now….
Exercise: How’d We Do?
Khaleef: I wanted to walk at least 6,500 steps for at least 5 days last week. I hit that goal and was able to do it by taking extended walks and getting my heart rate up most days during the week.
Let’s see if I can do something similar this week.
Sherrian: I still haven’t been able to exercise. Even after treating the sinus infection, my head has been giving me a hard time via my sinuses. I don’t know what’s going on and I’m pretty frustrated.

Sherrian: Ok… from the pound I gained last week, I’ve lost 1.2 lbs. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!! I actually LOST weight!
Khaleef here: Two weeks ago I was 309.6 and since I wasn’t able to weigh myself last week, I just used that as my weigh for last week. This week I was 308.8, which means I lost 0.8lbs. The numbers are getting smaller, so I’m going to have to make a few adjustments during the week in order to see a bigger change.
You Want To Lose What?
You read that title correctly. We want to lose 250lbs combined. Once we are both comfortable with sharing our weight, then we will talk about how that goal breaks down between the two of us.
We have now lost 19.8lbs as a couple and have 230.2lbs to go in order to hit our goal.
So now this blog has turned into the story of us losing 250lbs while paying off over $100k of debt at the same time!
Next Week’s Focus:
Sherrian: I will push myself to exercise one day this week. Either the recumbent bike or a weight lifting session.
Fat Guy (Khaleef is boring): I still want to get at least 6,500 steps in at least 5 days. I would also like to get in at least one cardio session so I can figure out what kind of exercises I can do that won’t cause my back to seize up – I just have to take a break from working and make time for this).
