I just wanted to give a brief update on my progress in both weight loss and paying off debt! So…here goes:
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been focusing a lot more on being in debt bondage, and reworking our plan to pay off debt! As we’ve tried to analyze our finances to figure out the best plan of attack, I started thinking about how a previous attempt at debt consolidation had almost cost me thousands!
Next week, I plan to write about what we have done so far, and what our new plan is, now that we are (almost) settled in our new place. My thoughts haven’t just been about getting out of debt, but the reality of our lack of financial freedom has really hit me hard over the last month or so! I have such a strong desire to work on my financial counseling and tax preparation business full time, and my debt is keeping me from that.
I don’t want you to think that I’m neglecting my weight. I am still working hard to fight the temptation from working downtown by paying off debt whenever I am tempted to eat out (or make any other impulse buy), and I don’t give in!
Whether I am at work, and have to walk by all the wonderful restaurants, or driving past all of these “new and untested” pizza places in our area, the urge is still there to eat out. At those times I have to consider my larger goal, and tell myself that one great meal is not worth more days, or weeks, or months as a fat guy!
I have had so much salad over the past few weeks – ever since I came back from the Financial Blogger Conference and had to deal with those torturing airline seats! No, it’s not some crash diet or anything like that…in fact, I actually love these salads!
My normal salad will include, lettuce or spinach, Spanish olives, almond slivers, carrots, raisins, feta cheese, various beans and peas (still working on a perfect mix), and Newman’s Own Light Balsamic Dressing. I used to include strawberries and grapes in my salads, so I may decide to mix and match certain fruits in order to change things up. Either way, it is very enjoyable and still pretty healthy.
As some of you may remember, I’ve been challenged to a push ups challenge! I haven’t officially kicked it off on the site yet because a number of people wrote in (or saw me in person) and told me that they were interested in joining. So, I’m still working out the details in order to include more people, and allow them to track their progress on the site.
However, as I write this, my chest is sore from all the push ups that I’ve been doing. My output has been cut in half, because I am now going much lower than I was before (thanks Josh :-x)! I still have to finalize the rules with the
crazy runner that challenged me, and then I’ll begin posting updates (with a few surprises).
I have to give a special shout out to my coworker that keeps challenging me to do push ups at work. Don’t worry, Mrs. J. W., I didn’t forget that I still owe you 5! 😉
Well, that’s about it for now. I’ll post more about my debt repayment and the push ups challenge later in the week. Oh, by the way, I think Cablevision sold my information!
