As the title says, the month of April was the worst month that I’ve had since I began this weight loss journey. I already wrote about some of the things that I have been dealing with lately, so I won’t go into detail here. I’ll just say that because of everything, it has been impossible to stay consistent with every aspect of my journey to health.
I will write a separate post giving an update on the medical issues, but just know that nothing much has changed, except the fact hat I am now being proactive in dealing with most things. So, here is my recap of how I did in each area of focus last month.
I was able to get in all of my scheduled weight lifting sessions. That was one of the few things for which my passion was stronger than whatever I’ve been going through lately. I felt my body getting stronger and I was able to comfortably increase the weight in all of my main lifts and even a couple of accessories.
My cardio workouts – which are usually either Tae-Bo or a ZCUT (high intensity interval training) routine – have been on hold for about 7 or 8 weeks now. Until I am able to get consistent sleep, I don’t see that changing.
I was able to run for about 25 miles in April, which is surprising. I wanted to add sprint intervals to my routine since it’s warm now, but I haven’t had the time or energy. So for now, I’ve just been trying to increase my speed.
My eating was pretty terrible for April. The lack of time, energy, sleep, and motivation all played a part in my poor choices and lack of discipline. I think the fact that my memory has been failing also played a part in it. There were days where I simply forgot to track or take a picture of my food – something which I was on top of in other months.
Here is the slideshow of all the food I ate in April (when I remembered to take pictures):
In case you forgot, last month (the end of March) I was 226.0 lbs. When I weighed myself on May 1st, I was 239.4!!! That means I gained 13.4 lbs in April. There is a lot that I can say about this, but since I already said it all in this video, I won’t repeat it here. Of course, you can watch the video to hear all of my thoughts:
Tomorrow, I plan to post what changes I am implementing in order to combat how I have been feeling lately.
