You may be wondering about the odd name for this website – allow me to explain! The two main points that I will write about on this site, both come from a lack of discipline in my life!
I shouldn’t have to explain too much with this one…I’m a FAT GUY!!! At my heaviest in 2011, I was 288lbs!
Weight – 288 (Yes, I had to push in my stomach in order to see the scale)
Height – 5’6″
BMI (Body Mass Index) – 46.5
So according to my BMI, I’m like an obese guy that ate a normal guy! Yikes!!!
All of my medical tests come back normal, but I know it’s only a matter of time before this catches up with me. I’m not trying to make my wife a widow at 35 (unless the Lord wills it, of course)!
Another big discipline concern for me is eating out! I don’t mean dining at 5-star restaurants, enjoying the finer things of life. I mean, I used to know the local chicken shack’s phone number by heart! C’mon, who actually calls in an order at a chicken shack?!?!
Good thing I don’t live near that place anymore! But, I still can eat my fair share of Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and pizza!
Last month we spent about $196 dining out! But, last year (2010) we spent…wait for it…$3,724 eating out!!!
Did I mention that I have over $100,000 in total debt? Probably not!
So my goal is to take all of this money that was wasted eating out, and apply it to debt (and possibly a new wardrobe)!
I am a born-again believer, and a slave to Christ. I pray that I can honor God in all that I do. This means that I can’t be lazy or greedy when it comes to working out and eating healthy! Also, I must be obedient to God’s word when it comes to how I manage His money!
God has provided me with the physical and mental capabilities to earn money, and He expects me to be a good steward of what He has provided! So that means that I can’t waste God’s money by buying Taco Bell and pizza multiple times a week!
My wife and I want to get out of debt, and be able to give more to support the work of our local church. So the more discipline we can develop when it comes to eating, being frugal, and losing weight, the sooner we can use our money to honor God!
I decided to post all of my successes and failures on this blog. That way you can hold me accountable if I tell you that I ate out 3 days in the past week. That isn’t good for my health, or my wallet!
I want to lose between 80 and 100 lbs and gain control of my finances in the process. I will post more measurements, and even pictures in the very near future so you can see how bad things really are!
I plan to workout every day (except Sundays), eat healthy, nutritious meals, measure everything that goes into my body, and pay down debt with the savings!
I’m counting on you to keep me on track! Are you ready?
