The drugstore game is something we found about a few years ago, and actually documented a lot of what we did with our CVS shopping. At the time it was fun, it was exciting, but after a while it became time consuming and we were running out of space to put our bounty!
With our drive to get out of debt sooner, now and again I get the ‘itch’ to buy a Sunday newspaper or see what the drugstores are offering in store currency that would peak my interest.
Although I’ve been able to fight off these urges so far, one of my favorite writers, Amanda Grossman, has written two e-books recently that has me off the couch and back into my circulars!
I’ve read, and highly recommend, her first e-book The CVS Drugstore Game. This review is on the second release, The Walgreens Drugstore Game. Though similar in information, each book is unique because the store policies and rules about coupon use does vary, and you will need to know how to navigate each.
I can only say that I WISH an ebook like this existed when we started our “game shopping”! We had to look on numerous websites to figure out the most efficient way to shop at a certain store, and there was still trial and error along the way. Then we would search a different set of websites to learn to match coupon deals. Then go to other sources to find the best places and ways to get coupons!
The book does a wonderful job of taking the reader through the couponing process step-by-step, using visual examples to explain the various types of coupons and what the information on them means. This is vital because Walgreens has different rewards systems and promotions, and it’s important to know how to utilize them best.
Amanda also gives specific examples of what successful shopping trips looks like, enabling you to save continuously, as opposed to unsuccessful ones. Her use of visuals for these examples reminds me of the rare teachers that would take their time to make sure a student really understood the information. Amanda wants you to succeed.
The book also gives you resources to use to make your shopping trip easier such as blogs that “match up” coupons with deals from the store for that week. There is also a coupon database available so you can search for specific products.
Before you’re done reading, the book will have prepared you and walked you through your first shopping trip to Walgreens from door to cash register. You will also be aware of what pitfalls to look out for and how to handle those. I don’t think it’s possible to be more prepared!
If you are looking to save money (while stocking up on name brand products you probably didn’t think you could afford), the drugstore game is worth it, and this book is the perfect tool to make you a pro!
The best part is that through November 7, 2013, you can download The Walgreens Drugstore Game for free from Amazon. That’s right – FREE! Get a copy for yourself and tell a friend. I’m sure Amanda will appreciate it if you left a review on Amazon as well!
