2004? 2006? Yeah, I think there are a few cute tops, or pairs of pants, sweaters and other things that have been hanging around in a bin (or 3) for that long that I just don’t want to let go of. At least, I don’t want to believe I have to! Who wants to say, “I’ll never fit into that again! Those days are behind me. I’m stuck in this miserable place and it’s never going to change!”
Alright, so maybe it makes sense to get rid of old clothes – and we have gotten rid of a lot. There are just a few pieces left in the Fat Guy household that we said we would get rid of – if we didn’t attain our goals by the summer time. Of course we said that sometime in yester-year, and with the vicissitudes of life, we actually forgot that was a goal. Now that there are certain deadlines creeping up on us, we remembered this goal the other day and were ready to stab ourselves in the toe at the missed opportunity we had to look cool in our stone-washed jeans! – – I kid, I kid!
So, we decided to give our clothes saving one last shot with a challenge 😀 I said to my dear husband, “let’s shoot for a 20 pound total loss in a month and see how that goes!” I figure between the both of us that would be manageable and admirable… and if I didn’t pull my weight, he could pick up the slack (hehe). My husband said it’s not a challenge if it’s comfortable, so we’re going for 25 pounds because he says he can handle 15 pounds by himself![Fat Guy Here: I didn’t want to be a punk and shoot for only losing 10lbs in 30 days]
In short, the deal is, we lose 25 pounds by June 4th or the clothes are gone! Fat Guy has some really nice things he wants to hold on to, but I think I am going to be the one suffering the most if we fail. I figure I am going to look through my clothes on a regular basis and paste the number ‘25’ around the house to help keep motivated.
Since we have seen success in the past, we are comfortable about what needs to be done to make this challenge a success. The big problem – if you’ve been reading this blog, I’m sure you’ve identified it – is just doing it!
Here is a little something to get you in the mood! It is Fat Guy’s favorite “challenge” sequence of all time:
Fat Guy will keep you posted on his progress… I guess our progress. I usually ask to be left out of his blog, especially because we haven’t come up with a name for me yet, as I REFUSE to be referred to as ‘Fat Wife’. And I didn’t want to lie and be referred to as ‘Skinny Wife’.
So, if you do have any suggestions for a nice, moderate wife name, please let us know! <—[Fat Guy again: Don’t leave your name suggestions yet. I plan to run a contest for this, and I will announce the rules on Monday. All I can tell you is that the winner will receive an Amazon.com Gift Card!]
Also, this should be a lot of fun so we welcome your comments, suggestions, stories, quips, etc.
