I wrote last week about my new commitment to weight loss and fitness. The first step in that process was to make sure that we had enough food to prepare our meals over the next few weeks.
We went to Costco, Shoprite, and we also purchased food from a local farm. Of course, we made videos showing everything that we purchased from each place. Don’t forget that if you are reading this via email, you’ll have to click through to the site in order to watch teh videos:
After going through everything, we paid approximately $350 for our groceries. Sherrian’s brother is staying with us for a little while, so keep in mind that this is for 3 adults who weigh a little less than 800lbs combined! We will need to replenish the stand-alone and versatile items, such as salad, fruit, vegetables, and wraps/bread, well before the other things.
My biggest downfall is not having food prepared for my main meals. I need to have lunch ready the evening before, and my dinner prepared by the time I get home, otherwise, I will be tremendously tempted to buy something (which could easily lead to a binge). So on top of buying a ton of groceries, we also had to prepare some meals.
Here is what our meal prep for the week looked like:
Now that the week is over, I can tell you that it was definitely worth it! The time in the grocery stores, picking up the farm order, cooking weighing/measuring the meals, packing everything for the week, and logging my calories was all worth it. If we can do this each week, I am sure that we will move closer to our goals as time moves on.
What are some ways that you avoid temptation (it doesn’t have to be with food)?
Any tips for quick and easy meal preparation?
