One thing that I am striving to achieve this year is seeing the glass half full more often than seeing it half empty. I noticed quite a few times this past year where I let the negative side of me overtake the positives. I know there are positives to most situations and I want to strive to see those instead of immediately being drawn to the negatives.
I will be spending time in my Bible and devotions daily. This is something I started this past October, and it has helped me so much. I am going to carry this over to the entire year adding more specific prayers in the evening as well. If I do these each day, I know that I will continue to grow in my faith which will carry over to all important parts of my life.
I want to spend a lot of time with my husband and my children. I want to soak up every second I can with them. We never know how long we have with loved ones. My children are growing like weeds and I don’t want to miss any milestones because I am too busy for them.
I am 18.8 lbs. away from my final weight loss goal. I will be working hard to get these pounds off, but more importantly, keep the weight that I have already lost off. I will continue eating right and working out when I can. I will strive to keep my body at its best.
I haven’t been to the general doctor or dentist in years, so making appointments for routine checkups this year are in the plans. I respect my body and I want to treat it well by giving it the best preventative care possible.
I started my year off by running a 10K on my own. Running is a new passion for me, and something I want to continue this year. I want to run at least ten official 5K races this year. I am planning on a possible 10K in April and definitely a 10K race on Thanksgiving which will be a year from the first 5K race I ever ran.
Here is a little bit of my 10K New Year’s Day Run!
I will be walking my first half-marathon with two of my best friends on June 7, 2013. I can’t tell you how excited I am about that. As far as running a half-marathon, I will set that up for a 2014 goal
I would love to be able to write many articles this year. I am praying that I am able to use my gift to touch many lives making a positive influence on my readers. I have been given this wonderful opportunity, and I want to make the most of it.
I am really looking forward to this upcoming year. 2013 will bring many ups and downs for me, but my hope is that I grow from them and become a better version of me. Happy New Year!!

Thanks for sharing your list. If you had to put one at the top of your list, I would encourage you to make those appointments for the doctor and dentist right away. Good health is so important, and the longer you wait, the longer you could be putting off things that could be relatively easy to deal with now versus later. Your kids need you to stay healthy too!

Thank you for the great suggestion. I will definitely be calling to make some appointments very soon.
WEll congratulations! My resolution for the year is to be there more for my kids, and it sounds like you want that too. It’s a GREAT goal that will last forever. I hate missing things with them and think that raising them properly is the most important thing!

Thank you so much! It is hard to balance everything and be a great parent. Time with our kids goes so so fast. If we make a conscious effort, everything will fall into place and work for the best.
Congrats on the weight lose, anything is an achievement! I’m currently undergoing my own weight loss regime.
Keeping positive is really important and is something I’ve been trying to for a while now. It’s tough. I’m a very cynical person and suffer with issue with my anger, so trying to rectify that has been a goal for a while.
Keep up the great work.

Thank you for the congrats. I wish you well on your weight loss journey as well. Losing weight is 99% attitude and mind, so keeping positive is key. You can do whatever you really want. I never dreamed I’d be where I am today.
Good luck with your goals this year! It is so important to set not only health and financial goals for the year but also spiritual. It helps us grow as a person.

Thank you so much! I know that by putting my spiritual goals first, everything else will fall into place!
Jules, you know that I love these goals. You are such a great wife and mother, and it’s very refreshing to see that at the top of your list (next to spending time with God).
It’s amazing to see how fast you took to running and how good you are at it. I know that you are going to inspire many people, because you do already (especially me), and you’re only getting better!
Nice goals and great job on running and spending more time with your family and on preventative care. Those are cute pics btw and best of luck with your marathon training.
