If you are one of the three people who actually read this blog, you’ll know that my wife and I have decided to hold the first Fat Guy Challenge (the hilarious Bill Cosby video is enough of a reason to click on the link ;-)) in our home.
You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!
Yesterday was the first day of the challenge, and I think that I did pretty well.
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. I’ll tell you right away that I didn’t meet my goal, but it wasn’t on purpose.
I had a healthy salad for lunch, baked fish with vegetables for dinner, and I snacked on raw almonds! Also, in the late afternoon I decided to have a fruit cup that had either 16 or 19 grams of carbs (I can’t remember now). Since I didn’t have any carbs up to that point (except for a very small amount in the almonds), I thought I was fine.
However, after I started eating it, I noticed that the serving size was only half a cup – meaning that I actually ate 32 or 38 grams of carbs! Seriously!!! Who in the world makes a serving size to be 1/2 cup?!?!?!?!? 😡
If it wasn’t for this deception – a “single serve” cup really being two servings – I would have met my goal!
We still haven’t started our workout routine – that will probably begin on either Saturday or Monday. I was at prayer meeting on Wednesday evening, and then Thursday, I was in a class at church until about 10pm. As you know, my goal is to work out in the morning so I don’t have to worry about fighting with my busy evenings in order to exercise!
Yesterday, I wasn’t tempted to eat out at all because it was the beginning of the challenge! I stayed at work really late and just went straight to church, since it’s closer to my job than my home. My wife met me for lunch and also packed dinner for me (thanks sweetheart)!
However, once I got to the class at church, I noticed a table full of donuts! I went directly to my seat, and stayed there the entire time – even when everyone else went up to grab a snack.
I only plan to update my weight once a week. My starting weight for the challenge is 290lbs!!!
