Yesterday was the 14th day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and Day 7 of our 2nd week! I can’t believe that we’re already 2 full weeks into this challenge!
After the first 7 days, I managed to lose 7.6lbs, without exercising at all. Hopefully, the results will be more dramatic once I add my daily workouts.
***[See how I did on the first 13 days of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 14:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Now we are taking that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
When I left for work, I planned to be out all day – going straight to church for prayer meeting after work. Therefore, I packed dinner along with my lunch and snacks.
For breakfast, I had a serving of almonds, string cheese, and a lot of water. Then for lunch, I had a spinach salad with olives, almond slivers, and feta cheese.
I ate some strawberries and almonds in the afternoon before heading home to pick up my wife for prayer. I then heated up what I packed for dinner – chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, cheese, and something that looked like caraway seeds (something used in rye and other breads). Yes, this is what I had the other day, and I loved it again!
I am proud to say that when we got home around 9:30, all I had was a cup of peppermint tea – even though I had a strong desire to eat something.
I drank about 96 oz of water today, 108 oz if you count the tea.
I went to sleep late Tuesday night, so I didn’t really expect to wake up early enough yesterday to work out. We got home so late last night, that I decided not to work out, with the hopes that I would wake up early enough today to do a real workout (you’ll find out tomorrow if I did or not ;-))
There was almost no temptation at all to eat out yesterday! However, if someone would have invited us out to a diner or something after prayer, I might have tried to talk my wife into going. I guess I should be glad that no one wants to hang out with me 😥 !
Since we are trying so hard to pay off debt, I really don’t have a desire to eat out anymore!
We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
