Yesterday was the 19th day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and the 5th day of our 3rd week! That means that we are more than halfway through this challenge.
After the first two weeks, I managed to lose 6.6lbs, without exercising at all. I got in a good workout during the first day of the 3rd week, so I am hoping that it will kick-start my routine!
***[See how I did on the first 2 weeks of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 19:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Now we are taking that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
After a wonderful, and busy weekend, I came to work yesterday not really prepared. I went to work with a couple servings of almonds and the leftover boneless buffalo wings from Sunday (and one of my 5 readers yelled at me about on Monday!).
I had a few of the almonds in the morning with 32 oz of water. Then I had my lunch – which wasn’t really that good – with bleu cheese dip. Then I ate about half of the almonds in the late afternoon along with another 32 oz of water, before heading home.
Once I got home, I washed the dishes and then quickly made turkey bacon and scrambled eggs with feta cheese, because I had a lot of work to do. Unfortunately, I wasn’t completely full, even though I had another 32 oz of water. Well, hours later I decided to finally go to bed. Then I started to feel really hungry, so I drank about 20 oz of water, which didn’t help.
So…I had a choice to make: I could either exercise discipline and self-control by going to sleep, or I could eat a couple of chocolate chip cookies. I think that when I get really sleepy, it’s hard for me to exhibit willpower. Which is why I gave in and had the cookies 😳 .
I drank about a gallon of water yesterday, unfortunately, about 12 oz of that was when I washed down my cookies.
Yesterday, I woke up around 7:15, so there was no way that I could work out. But I have decided that working out will move up on my list of priorities. I use the evenings for studying, devotion with my wife, and writing. However, I have to include exercise to my evening routine on the days when I don’t wake up on time to do it in the morning!
As I wrote above, I was tempted late at night to have a snack. Unfortunately, I gave in to that temptation and I’m really disappointed about that. That was the first time this month that I wasn’t able to maintain discipline, and I hope it was the last!
