So, since one of my good friends (hey Kelly!) has been “convinced” to visit this site daily, I think I’m now up to 4 people tracking my progress 😯 ! Today was the second day of the first Fat Guy Challenge (the hilarious Bill Cosby video is enough of a reason to click on the link ;-))![Be sure to see how I did on day 1 of the First Fat Guy Challenge]
You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!
Here is my assessment:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. I met my goal today, but it definitely wasn’t easy.
I didn’t eat anything for breakfast because we didn’t really have any snacks that could keep my under 20 grams of carbs, and I didn’t have time to make eggs (yes, I know, I still need to work on my time management). For lunch, I had the rest of the baked fish and vegetables that was my dinner on Thursday. Then, I shared a few chicken Vienna Sausages with my coworker.
In the afternoon, I again snacked on raw almonds and drank plenty of water. Although, there was still more fish and veggies left, I wasn’t in the mood to have it again for dinner. So I made scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese.
I managed to hit 20 grams of carbohydrates exactly, so I considered today a success!
We still haven’t started our workout routine – that will probably begin on either Saturday or Monday (since it’s so late on Friday night, I’m thinking that Monday will be the official start).
I may decide to run through my alternate workout plan tomorrow morning, depending on a few other factors.
As I said on my Facebook page (please take a second to “like” my FB page) earlier in the day, eating a diet that consists of practically no carbs is not filling at all! Once I got home, I felt so hungry.
My wife suggested buying KFC or Chinese food – two things that I can’t stand – since we could get a low/no carb meal! I suggested that we either eat the fish or have eggs and more sausages. Thankfully, we had enough discipline to avoid eating out.
I usually eat terrible on Friday nights and Saturdays – I passed one part of this weekend test, let’s see how the rest goes.
