Yesterday was the 21st day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and the end of our 3rd week! That means that the challenge is almost over!
After the first two weeks, I managed to lose 6.6lbs, without exercising at all.
***[See how I did on the first 2 weeks of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 21:
Diet – With A Change
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Then we moved that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
Now, we have decided to count calories, and to keep track of certain macro and micro nutrients as well. I think that this is a better overall approach, and it will ensure that we are not going too far in any particular direction.
Yesterday, I had a serving of string cheese and almonds for breakfast. Then for lunch, I had a turkey wrap (with mustard and American cheese) with another serving of string cheese.
For an afternoon snack, I choose a few strawberries and a serving of dark chocolate chips (trying to have a good amount of monounsaturated fatty acids during the day).
When I went home, I had to rush because we had to be at prayer meeting in the evening. My dinner consisted of more of the salmon and mixed vegetables which I had on Tuesday.
I had close to a gallon of water yesterday, and I think that I’m back into my old habits.
Yesterday, I woke up close to 7 am, and so I wasn’t able to work out in the morning. However, I was so frustrated by not getting my schedule on track, that I decided to work out after prayer. The house was so hot when I came home at close to 10 pm, but I was committed to work out!
I did the Debbie Siebers’ Slim In 6 workout DVD, and it was rough. The heat and humidity combined with the fat and blubber, which resulted in a ton of sweat and a slight nauseous feeling after I was done!
I am so glad that I was able to get in another workout before the end of week 3! Let’s hope that it made a difference.
I didn’t face any temptation yesterday, which I think is a result of having more to snack on during the day.
We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
