Yesterday was the 23rd day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and the 2nd day of the 4th week! That means that the challenge is almost over!
After the first three weeks, I managed to lose 9.6lbs, with only minimal exercise.
***[See how I did on each day during the first 3 weeks of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 23:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Then we moved that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
Now, we have decided to count calories, and to keep track of certain macro and micro nutrients as well. I think that this is a better overall approach, and it will ensure that we are not going too far in any particular direction.
Yesterday was such an odd day. I went to sleep around 3:30 in the morning, and woke up around 8:30am. I ate a blueberry muffin for breakfast, and then went to my niece’s graduation ceremony. It was about 300 degrees, and there wasn’t much shade at the ceremony.
Once I got back to my sister’s house, I had salmon, macaroni & cheese, and rice & beans for dinner around 4pm. Then we got back to New Jersey around 11:30pm, and I had another serving of macaroni & cheese.
I had a couple of 16 oz bottles of water at my sister’s house, and around 24 oz at home.
Since I was out of town, I didn’t plan on getting any exercise on Friday. However, we were forced to walk at least a mile to get from our parking lot, over to the stadium for the ceremony. Then, once we got inside the stadium, we walked around the outer ring, looking for my in-laws.
Then we had to walk the mile back to the car. Since, as I mentioned earlier, it was 300 degrees outside, I am officially counting my 2+ miles of walking as exercise!
I didn’t face any temptation yesterday, I was much too hot to think about food. Also, both my sister and niece are great cooks, so I knew that I would have access to better food in their house!
We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
