Yesterday was the 22nd day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and the 1st day of our 4th week! This means that we only have a few more days left (the challenge ends on Saturday – 6.4.11)! This also means that I weighed myself again.
After the first two weeks, I managed to lose 6.6lbs, without exercising at all.
***[See how I did on each day during the first 3 weeks of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 22:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Now we are taking that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
Now, we have decided to count calories, and to keep track of certain macro and micro nutrients as well. I think that this is a better overall approach, and it will ensure that we are not going too far in any particular direction.
When I left for work, I planned to be out all day – going straight to church for our leadership class after work. Therefore, I packed dinner along with my lunch and snacks.
For breakfast I had a fruit smoothie, which contained the following: raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, yogurt, and almond milk. I made the smoothie using our Rival Handheld Immersion Blender – yes, I’m going to keep talking about this gadget because I love it! I especially love the fact that it takes about 10 seconds to clean.
Then, I had a serving of almonds as a mid-morning snack, along with 32 oz of water. For lunch, I ate more of the salmon and mixed vegetables from the other day!
My afternoon snack was strawberries and dark chocolate drops. Then for dinner, I ate a turkey wrap with American cheese and mustard, along with 10 cherries!
I drank about a gallon of water yesterday, the count is a little off because I had a bottle of water at my sister’s house after midnight!
I woke up after 7 am on Thursday, and it was much too late to workout. Actually, all of that wonderful food had to be weighed – and the fruit needed to be washed! Unfortunately, I had to go out of town immediately after my leadership class at the church, so I couldn’t even sneak in a workout before going to bed.
Even though I didn’t get in any formal exercise, I did walk about 1.5 miles during lunch, in the blazing heat, with a long-sleeve black, shirt on!
There was no temptation at all to eat out yesterday! I just keep thinking about the fact that we have to pay off debt! We are eating healthier and saving money in the process!
We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
I hate having a challenge based on my weight! I’d rather just be consistent, disciplined, and faithful every day, and let the results follow. However, I think I really needed something in order to jump-start my final attempt at losing weight!
I weighed myself early Thursday morning, and all I could think about is the fact that I gained a pound during week 2! As I pushed my stomach out of the way so I could read the scale, I was a little surprised by the reading. I can’t afford to lose this challenge, so I began to get desperate. I actually got on 3 separate times in order to be sure that it was correct! Of course, it didn’t change at all. Each time I got on it read:
This means that I actually lost 3 lbs from the end of week 2! My 3-week total for weight loss is now 9.6lbs. I have to lose 15lbs by June 4th, or I have to giveaway all of my clothes that don’t fit! I think I may still be a little behind with the pace, but this past week was encouraging.
