Yesterday was the 7th day of the first Fat Guy Challenge. It also marked the end of the first week. What this means is that it was the last day that we had to stay under 20 grams of carbs! Also, I weighed myself this morning to see if the first 7 days lead to any weight loss (you’ll find the answer below).
***[See how I did on the first 6 days of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 7:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day.
I woke up a little late for work, so I didn’t have time to pack a real lunch. I quickly gathered up two servings of raw almonds (56 grams) and an individual serving of string cheese (don’t ask me why I didn’t take more than one).
I had a serving of almonds around 10am, and then I ate the string cheese a little later – it was probably around 11:30 or 12. Then I had my lunch…chicken Vienna Sausages with pepper-jack cheese and mustard. In the afternoon, I had the other serving of almonds.
I drank a lot of water at work – more than half a gallon – and that seemed to help curb my hunger. When I got home, I immediately begin studying for class, and didn’t have dinner until around 7:30 or so. My wife baked chicken and I had it with some cabbage that she made. Dinner was very good!
I had about 100 oz of water, which means I’m moving in the right direction.
I really need to get my sleep pattern on track. I’m getting tired of writing that I didn’t get a chance to work out, and that I plan to do it soon. I have class tonight, so we probably won’t get started on it until Saturday morning.
I am really looking forward to adding exercise to my daily routine, and hopefully, it will help me to get better results!
Another day in which there was no temptation at all to eat out…or even get some chocolate from the vending machine. When I left the house in the morning, I assumed that I would be hungry for much of the day and have to face strong temptation. However, I was able to keep the goal in front of me, and not focus on other “options”.
So, despite not packing much food for the day, there was no temptation to cheat! We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
Weigh In Time: “Less” Fat Guy In A Little Coat!!!
Last week when I weighed myself, I was 290lbs 8-O! I was so disgusted by that number – if you take a look at my about page, you’ll see that I actually gained weight from the moment that I started this website! Well, today was my first official weigh-in after starting this challenge, and the scale said (after I pushed my stomach out of the way)…
Okay, I pray that I never get excited about weighing more than several of my coworkers combined! However, I am very excited that I was able to drop 7.6lbs in one week.
After seeing the results, I am so glad that I never gave in to temptation. Part of my motivation was not wanting to write about giving in to temptation and disappointing all five of my readers!
Now comes the hard part – adding daily exercise, and going to a more “normal” diet!
