Yesterday was the 9th day of the first Fat Guy Challenge, and Day 2 of our 2nd week!
After the first 7 days, I managed to lose 7.6lbs, without exercising at all. Hopefully, the results will be more dramatic once I add my daily workouts.
***[See how I did on the first 8 days of the challenge] – You can read our motivation for doing this, as well as the details of the challenge at the first link above. Our main goal is to lose 25lbs combined by June 4th, or there will be severe consequences! I am responsible for 15 of those pounds!***
Here is my assessment of day 9:
For the first week of the challenge, we decided to drastically reduce our carbohydrate intake to under 20 grams each day. Thankfully, that restriction was only in place for the first week. Now we are taking that amount up to 60 grams per day, with two “carb load” days each week.
My mornings are becoming the victim of my old pattern of very little sleep. Unfortunately, I woke up too late to eat breakfast at home, but I was able to pack my lunch and snacks the night before.
So, once again my breakfast consisted of string cheese and almonds…and a lot of water. Then for lunch, I had more of the delicious beef that my wife made in the crock pot, a small piece of the wonderful chicken which she baked, along with cabbage.
I had more almonds in the afternoon, and a few strawberries before leaving work.
For dinner, I made pizza at home, and it was great! I used the wraps that we have (only 10 net grams of carbs), along with pasta sauce which only has 10 grams in a serving (one mini pizza only needs 1/2 a serving), and cheddar cheese.
I really think that pizza is one of the miracles of God’s creation! Only three basic ingredients, but it tastes so amazing!!!
I drank a lot of water yesterday, I almost met my goal of a gallon per day, but since I got the late start with breakfast, it was impossible.
As I wrote on day 8, my plan is to get in a workout on Saturday – as long as I can get enough work done on Friday night. I’ll let you know how that goes.
There was no temptation at all to eat out yesterday! The homemade pizza was a great treat, and it proves that I don’t need to spend money eating out in order to have the perfect food!
We just took care of business and God blessed our efforts to be disciplined. <— I am hoping to be able to write that phrase every day of this challenge!
Day 10 Preview
My wife and I have decided to use Sundays as a carb load day instead of Saturdays. However, we are going out to dinner with two other couples this Saturday evening. This means that we will have to sit in a restaurant and limit ourselves to around 35 carbs (assuming we both eat a banana today at home)!
I’m sure we can find dishes that don’t contain a lot of carbs, but the problem will be looking past all of the dishes which do!!! 😥
